Clean Air Initiatives
Intended to be part Rocky Mountain Institute, part Aspen Institute, part Institute for Advanced Study, Clean Air Initiatives will be home to some of the most advanced climate change thinking in the world. Experts will be able to convene regularly at our headquarters and campus for lively discussions on a broad range of topics, topics of interest to sustainable development and the future of the human endeavor. We will aim to make a difference with our scientific research, policy analysis, and educational programs which are designed to improve minds and the biosphere all at the same time. Working with NGO's, non-profit groups and individuals, we will sincerely try to improve life on the planet Earth for ourselves and for future generations.
Think it doesn't matter whether someone makes a difference or not? Think again! Currently there are approximately 1 billion people who are chronically malnourished in the world. Approximately 50,000 people starve to death every day. According to the World Health Organization (WHO) approximately 2 million people die every year from the effects of air pollution. How can those things be true in this day and age, when missions to Mars are being planned, when the human genome has been mapped, when the secrets of the Universe have been revealed down to the first microsecond of its existence, and with all the other wonderful things that we take for granted in our lives?
Trying to make the world a better place, Clean Air Initiatives will be a private foundation which will receive grants from companies, private individuals, and government entities. We will sponsor symposia, lectures, educational literature, air pollution measurement campaigns, policy studies, green energy technology research and development, and carbon neutral sustainable infrastructure development programs. Our slogan will be: "We are trying to make a difference now!"
